What is a Bitcoin wallet?

A Bitcoin wallet is a collection of keys that control bitcoin. For each private key there is a corresponding public key and address. A private key is used to make transactions whereas a public key is used to receive transactions.

A Bitcoin wallet application such as the BitBoxApp interacts with the Bitcoin blockchain to monitor transactions and update wallet balances accordingly.

There are various different types of wallets, some are connected to the Internet while others are not. Different wallets are used for different purposes, such as accessibility or privacy. The crucial difference amongst wallets relates to how their private key is stored.
